I remember that fateful day in 1983 when I heard the news on the radio that Karen Carpenter had died. I was so sad that I struggled to hold back the tears. She was, without question, my favorite childhood singer! (Don’t ask why a 10-year old boy wanted to listen to melancholy Carpenters music… I just did!). I still adore her voice and her brother’s, (Richard Carpenter’s) arrangements.
